WEEKLY COHORTS

Learning cohorts are an opportunity to meet and learn with the same small group for several weeks in a row. While most cohorts are facilitated by a Rabbi Dan Epstein, some are student organized/led! We're proud to offer several recurring learning opportunities for students. There is something for everyone!

FALL 2025

  • Wings & Wisdom -  A weekly, drop-in lunch and learn exploring everything from God to dogs to current events. No prior Jewish learning background is needed, just bring your curiosity for open conversation. We’ll explore Jewish ethics and how to interpret Torah in today’s world. And yes, there are free wings for everyone.

    • Wednesdays beginning 9/10, 12-2 pm

  • Kabbalah & Kreme - A weekly, drop-in gathering for GW undergraduates Jewish and non-Jewish alike to explore the mysteries of Jewish mysticism. Topics range from prophetic dreams to the afterlife, ghosts, and witches, with occasional student-led sessions. No sign-up or prior knowledge is needed. We’ll enjoy ice cream while learning and sharing.

    • Wednesdays beginning 9/10, 8:08 - 8:48 pm

  • Advanced Talmud - Dive into the Gemara in its original Aramaic, exploring the depth and meaning of the daf together. All are welcome whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, Jewish or not. You can drop in for a few minutes, join once, or come every week. Texts are provided, and there’s always something tasty to snack on while we learn.

    • Mondays beginning 9/1, 2pm

  • Parsha Class - A weekly, student-led session exploring the Torah portion read in synagogue that week. We’ll read directly from the text, ask questions, and discuss its relevance today. Students are encouraged to share their own reflections, interpretations, and even lead their own lessons. Snacks and lively discussion are always on the table.

    • Thursdays beginning 9/4, 5 pm

  • Hadar - Love a good debate? Think you could’ve chosen better than Moses? Hadar’s learning fellowship explores Jewish dilemmas through the eyes of biblical characters and modern day scenarios. No Torah experience needed, just curiosity. Open to all undergraduate students, Jewish and non-Jewish.

  • JLF- The Jewish Learning Fellowship- An 8-week discussion-based fellowship with an application process, open to all backgrounds and levels of Jewish knowledge.
