During this unprecedented semester, GW Hillel staff and student leadership remain committed to supporting students from near or far, through the three pronged approach outlined below.

  • To learn more about educational offerings (Torah), contact Rabbi Dan Epstein

  • To learn more about internships, mentorships, etc. (Avodah), contact Rabbi Daniel Novick

  • To learn more about voter enrollment, racial justice, Nuance Project, etc., contact Marlee Goodman

Although classes have gone virtual, GW Hillel recognizes the large amount of students who have gathered in DC for the fall 2020 semester.  As a result, we know there may be opportunities for small groups of students to gather as part of the Hillel community.  In doing so, our highest priority is honoring the Jewish value of Pikuach Nefesh - saving a life; we have crafted the following set of guidelines to keep the health and safety of our staff and students our top priority.

At any in-person gathering:

  • Face masks are mandatory.

  • Should you be feeling ill, or have been immediately exposed to someone with Covid-symptoms, you will agree to not attend.

  • Social distancing will be observed; GW Hillel reserves the right to limit the amount of attendees should we believe social distancing is not possible.  In this case, we will work to gather multiple small cohorts in helping meet the needs of our students.

  • All GW Hillel gatherings (as of 9/2020) will be held outdoors; as health guidelines change, GW Hillel will continue to re-evaluate future indoor events.

  • RSVPs & pre-registration is mandatory; GW Hillel staff must have a full list of all attendees at events prior to event start.

  • By attending a GW Hillel gathering, you agree to notify GW Hillel Executive Director Adena Kirstein immediately should you learn of first-hand Covid exposure or personal infection within two weeks of attending a GW Hillel event.

  • Guidelines provided by the CDC and university will continue to be monitored and utilized in guiding GW Hillel gatherings
