Shabbat Grants
Shabbat Grants
Host a Shabbat dinner in your room for you and your friends,
and have CNI foot the bill!
Sponsored by the Colonial Networking Initiative, a project of GW Hillel
How does this work?
Easy! If you want to host your own Shabbat dinner, simply sign up by clicking here. After you receive a confirmation e-mail, you’re all set to go – invite your friends, go shopping for food, and have a great evening! Following your event, drop by Hillel to pick up your reimbursement and tell us how it went.
What will CNI provide for my dinner?
Once you register to host a Shabbat dinner, you will receive a Shabbat kit – including challah, candles and grape juice – for you and your guests. You pick your own menu and then CNI will reimburse you $5 per guest for up to 10 guests totaling $50.
What is required of me if I host Shabbat on my own?
In order to get reimbursed, all you need to show us is a picture of you and your guests enjoying Shabbat dinner and your food receipts. Other than that, you can invite whoever you want (at least 5 people must be in attendance) and eat whatever you want.
Why is CNI doing this?
This program was initiated so as many GW students as possible can enjoy Shabbat on their own terms. Whether you are celebrating Shabbat for the first time or you are a Shabbat regular, CNI is happy to assist you in any way we can to make your experience the best it can be for you and your friends.
To Sign Up, please click here. Shabbat grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis so make sure to sign up ASAP!
