Jews United for Justice seeks GW Federal Work Study Program Assistant. Jews United for Justice (JUFJ) is a dynamic and growing organization whose mission is to lead Washington-area Jews to act on shared Jewish values by pursuing justice and equality in our local community. We mobilize the Jewish community to act in solidarity with local social justice campaigns. Over the past decade JUFJ has helped to win living wage laws, new affordable housing programs and greater protections for immigrant workers. Jews United for Justice seeks a Work-Study Student to support Jews United for Justice’s efforts to make the Washington region a better place for all its residents. HIAS, Inc., the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the oldest international refugee serving agency in the U.S., seeks a part-time (15-18 hours per week) Office and Event Coordinator to perform administrative functions of the HIAS DC office. The HIAS DC Office and Event Coordinator will perform all administrative functions of the HIAS DC Office including communications, bookkeeping, purchasing, photocopying, faxing, filing, preparation of expense reports and travel authorizations for senior management, information technology services, and other related duties as they arise. The Coordinator will also help with recruitment and management of HIAS DC interns, maintain HIAS’ Advocacy website, manage various listservs, and work with other staff to create online advocacy campaigns. In addition, the Coordinator will plan the logistics for DC office events including the annual HIAS Advocacy Mission, Advocacy Days, press conferences, meetings, and social events for the HIAS DC office. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED; some college (or current enrollment in a college or university program); excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office required; Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Publisher and Access, InDesign, and/or HTML coding a plus); ability to troubleshoot computers and other office equipment; experience with or ability to master office administrative duties, including office communications, meeting planning, bookkeeping; excellent writing and verbal communications skills; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and multi-task under tight deadlines; and knowledge of Jewish community and Jewish organizations a plus.
